BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND – AND IT’S PLAIN SAILING FOR THE FIRST REGATTA OF THE YEAR TO ALDERNEY

Last Saturday 4 May, the first regatta with 7 Beneteau yachts sailed from Lymington to Alderney.  All 26 crew taking part in the ANCASTA Yacht Club Rally received a warm welcome at the newly refurbished clubhouse and also enjoyed a BBQ at the club.

The rally was organised at the suggestion of Alderney Sailing Club Commodore Nigel Vooght. For most of the crew this was their first visit to Alderney and they wasted little time exploring Alderney, enjoying the island’s hospitality and their first taste of Alderney’s magic potion, the Milk-a-Punch.

The feedback was very positive and enthusiastic, and was summed up by Stuart Brotherton, who organised the Regatta.

“Visiting Alderney has been nothing short of fantastic”, said Stuart.   “Everyone that has come along on the rally has had nothing but great things to say and will no doubt be back another time. You would struggle to go to anywhere and receive a welcome like we have, from the Sailing Club, the Georgian House and generally from anyone we have met along the way.”

“A beautiful place with good food and friendly people and I can’t wait to come back with another Ancasta rally at the end of this month.”

The next ANCASTA Rally – a Motor Boat Race from Lymington to Alderney –  will take place on Sunday 26 May.
