Eleven youngsters – boys and girls aged 9 to15 – took part in this week’s Stage 4 Course of the RYA’s “GET ONBOARD” Youth Sailing Scheme, run by qualified instructors.
However, Stage 4 turned out to be extremely challenging, and sadly the weather also caused a few issues. But all participants gained valuable knowledge and experience and are now feeling much more confident at sea.
We look forward to seeing all of these youngsters take part in our weekly sailing sessions (every Tuesday from 4:30pm).
A big thank you goes to senior instructor Joe Purches, to dinghy instructor Danni Woodnutt, and our young assistant instructor Pearl Parker for their patience and guidance.
Alderney Sailing Club’s Ellis Downes presented all young sailors with their much coveted logbooks and Bethan Craddock received her certificate for Stage 3
We would like to thank the Alderney Sports Foundation and Guernsey Youth Commission for their generous support enabling local children to take part in these courses.
