Survey: Promulgation of the Channel Island Shipping Forecasts
Consultation
On behalf of the Jersey Meteorological Department, Jersey Harbour Authority (through Jersey Coastguard) is in the process of reviewing the current provision for the promulgation of the Channel Island Shipping Forecasts (CISFs) as issued by the Jersey Metrological Department. The CISF’s form part of Jersey’s obligations to provide Maritime Safety Information (MSI) as a Coastal State (see Background and Obligations).
Jersey Coastguard has been broadcasting the Channel Island’s Shipping Forecast, as issued by the Jersey Meteorological Department, in its current format for more than 40 years. We have produced a questionnaire to seek the views of mariners regarding the current provision and how it could be improved to better reflect the modern requirements of mariners. We would like your input as a valued customer to ensure we continue to provide a service that meets current requirements whilst fulfilling the islands statutory obligations.
This phase of the consultation will close on 31st July 2022 Following this we will review the feedback and communicate the results and suggested changes by 1st September 2022.
