Alderney Sailing Club gets ready for its 4th Regatta  Weekend 27-28 August 2022

Alderney, 19 August 2022: Covid restrictions have finally been lifted and, with a busy programme of racing and socialising firmly in place for next weekend, 27-28 August, the Alderney Sailing Club’s organising team is looking forward to a good turnout of competitors for its popular and challenging annual Alderney Regatta.

 

Invitations have been sent to over 400 club members, as well as to Yacht Clubs in the Channel Islands, Southern England, Normandy and Brittany.

 

The programme of events  starts on Friday evening 26th August with a Welcome Drinks Reception in the clubhouse for all participants.

 

Saturday 27th:

The Casquets Race is scheduled for an early 08:00 start and later that day at 15:30 is the start of the ORTAC Club Race. Throughout the day competitors taking part in the POLYGON Guernsey to Alderney Pursuit Race will be sailing into Braye Harbour.

Renowned for its hospitality, the Alderney Sailing Club will ensure that nobody will go thirsty or hungry: the Club bar will be open from 12:00noon all day and Chilli Con Carne or Vegetable Korma will be served in the Clubhouse from 1:00pm onwards throughout the afternoon (£15pp)

 

Sunday 28th :  

The Round the Island Race is scheduled for a 13:30 start. Again, the club bar will open from 12:00noon all day.

The official prize giving will take place around 15:30, followed by a BBQ (£15pp).

 

Monday 29th:

The POLYGON Alderney to Guernsey Pursuit Race scheduled to start at 13:30  marks the end of what is expected to be, like last year, a very competitive but also highly enjoyable weekend of racing and socialising. 

 

This year’s Regatta is sponsored by the Alderney Sailing Club and the States of Alderney who are offering free moorings for all competing yachts.
