The Alderney Sailing Club Committee has confirmed that in 2019 the Alderney Sailing Club will be reintroducing into its race calendar an annual regatta for local and visiting yachts.
The Alderney Regatta will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 24th August (Braye Harbour to Burhou and L’Ortac) and Sunday 25th August (Braye Harbour around the island), thus allowing visiting yachts to return to their home ports on Bank Holiday Monday.
The racing weekend will kick off on Friday evening 23 August with a welcome drinks reception for all participants.
After the first day of racing on Saturday 24th, we will be organising a BBQ with live music that evening.
And, on Sunday 25th, after the final race, the prize presentation in the Clubhouse on Sunday will be followed by a buffet lunch.
Full details of the programme of events planned for that weekend will be published on our website in due course.
Invitations have already been sent to many of the yacht and sailing clubs in the Channel Islands, the UK and nearby France. “We hope for a good turnout which will put Alderney back on the national and international Regatta map”, said Vice-Commodore Boyd Kelly who is coordinating the event.
